The industrial agglomeration of the magnesium alloy die-casting industry has not yet formed a cluster advantage, and the industrial structure needs to be continuously adjusted, optimized and upgraded. A complete industrial chain will enable the recycling and reuse of magnesium processing to develop healthily.

The overall quality of alloy materials and the basic conditions are poor

Poor quality of magnesium raw materials, backward production equipment and processes, low technology development capabilities, and lack of core technologies are the fundamental factors restricting the production of high value-added magnesium alloy die castings.

The process equipment is not matched. Mold design and manufacturing mainly rely on aluminum alloy die-casting, and the professional level needs to be improved. The production equipment of raw and auxiliary materials is crude, the technology is backward, and the testing methods are in short supply. The varieties of raw and auxiliary materials are different and the quality is unstable.

Technology is backward and talent is lacking

The development capabilities of new processes and new products are insufficient, the added value of products is low, and the market is single. High-quality products rely on long-term accumulation of technology and core capabilities, which are also the basis for exploring diversified markets.

A complete magnesium recovery and regeneration system needs to be established

Recycled magnesium consumes significantly less energy per ton and produces less CO2 than producing new magnesium materials. Therefore, from the aspects of energy saving, resource saving and environmental protection, the recycling and regeneration of magnesium is the requirement of the times. From a technical perspective, magnesium is more difficult to recycle than aluminum, and the cast magnesium alloy industry should pay full attention to this from the perspective of development strategy.
